Good dentistry begins with careful planning.

Whether treatment is simple or complex, we follow a structured process to ensure decisions are considered, predictable, and appropriate for your long-term dental health.

Planning is not about doing more treatment — it is about doing the right treatment in the right order.

FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What happens during the first step of treatment planning?

We begin by understanding you as a patient. This includes discussing what is troubling you, your goals, any pain or symptoms you may be experiencing, your previous dental history, and your expectations. Your priorities guide the discussion.

What is involved in a comprehensive dental assessment?

Your assessment is tailored to your individual needs and may include an examination of your teeth and gums, bite and wear analysis, digital X-rays, 3D scans where indicated, clinical photography, and a review of any existing restorations. Not every case requires every investigation.

Why is identifying the cause of the problem important?

Rather than focusing on a single tooth, we look at the bigger picture. This includes understanding why damage has occurred, whether bite forces are contributing, if gum health is stable, and whether previous restorations are failing. Treating symptoms without identifying the cause can often lead to repeated issues.

How is my treatment plan structured?

Where needed, treatment is organised into phases. These may include stabilisation (such as pain relief or infection control), foundation treatment (like improving gum health or managing decay), structural restoration (crowns, bridges, or implants), cosmetic refinement where appropriate, and long-term maintenance. Not all patients require every phase.

How do you ensure my treatment lasts long-term?

Each treatment option is discussed in terms of durability, maintenance requirements, impact on neighbouring teeth, long-term stability, and future flexibility. The aim is to provide treatment that remains stable and effective over time.
